I see Lesley, thats a good explanation..like a rectangle only with one side scalloped LOL!!! I'm following you now. I'm not sure how I will progress, I guess we'll see when I get there!
I still really like your design for your betweens and they turned out so pretty! My quilting is just like yours..fine on the front..pinpoints on the back. I DID take a class this summer from a woman who has won over $20,000. with her hand quilted quilts....guess what...my quilting still looks the same. Here's what she told me- "practice and pay attention to how much you are pushing the needle when it is underneath."...DUH.... I'm sure she is right though.
I'm using a chalk pencil and the disappearing purple marker to mark my blocks Elle. I keep a 6" square ruler near me so I can use it to mark the straight lines. I just eyeball the curves and draw them.

Patti, don't be too envious - you haven't seen the back!!!!! AND, unless you come a callin' you won't! :) I have never gotten the back to look good, but what the - it's the back, for pity sake! My walls don't have eyes that I'm aware of.
If you do come over, I'll be happy to "make your day" by letting you laugh your head off when you do see the back! Then I'll fix you a cup of coffee or tea or whiskey or gin or - whatever. That also goes for anyone thinking of visiting the edge of No Where. You can see No Where from here!
Just read where Les said she doesn't get the back perfect either. I am so glad I'm not out standing in a field alone!

Blinky, there isn't an AOTH Forum set up right now, but I'm going to see if Patrice will let me put it up at the end of the month. We are all gathering on Lesley's PDA for now. She is such a sweetie to let us do that.

But it seems the further I push the needle underneath, the larger the blank space on top gets! With my arthritis, I can't seem to get any better, especially when trying to quilt over all those layers that Jane has. I have mostly been skirting around the seam allowances. When I do encounter an intersection with lots, I go through only a couple layers and go on.

I'm taking all this info in so I'll be ready guys!!!Iv'e also reread Lesleys info so I can start hand quilting each block!
I took a class on hand quilting and my stitches are still large and uneven. My teacher said "practice makes perfect". What else could she say??? And who has time to "practice"?

My hand quilting is not very good either, I try not to look at the back and luckily on this quilt it will only be seen by me when the backing goes on. I intend to use my machines fancy hand stitching thingy when I do the sashings thats if I can remember how it works. Nowhere in the instruction book on my Brother does it tell you.
One of the ladies at my club said to use monofiliment in the top and thread in the spool and make the tension higher. Will have to see when I get to that bit, its in the distance at the moment.

For people thinking about making AOTH after Jane, I have put a table of relative sizes on my PDA this morning to help you decide whether you want to enlarge the blocks to make a bed sized quilt.
We are using my PDA for the moment, until we are allowed to start a thread for it.
